OUR STORY

Hi, I’m Lee. Inspired by ‘spotters guide’ drawings, in 2010 I started doing my own illustrations as a hobby and posted my drawings on a dedicated BTCC Blueprints Facebook page. I concentrated on the modern cars of that era, but became increasingly interested in the BTCC history. So I began drawing cars from the Super Touring Cars and then the massive task of drawing every BTCC car I could find a picture of, going back to 1958. I’m getting there, with over 1,500 completed!

My illustrations received some amazing feedback from fans and were extensively shared across social media. This exposure resulted in MSV requesting the use of my drawings for their BTCC race event programmes. I’m very proud of that recognition and that relationship with MSV continues today.

2016 was a big year. My partner Samantha is a graphic designer and having received so many requests for posters and other items, we created the www.btccblueprints.co.uk website and online shop. A few posters and keyrings, has become mugs, phone cases, t-shirts, towels, stickers etc and even my first book!

We’re now regularly contacted by drivers, teams and their sponsors, for a range of products to provide clients. We also take on livery design work for BTCC clients such as Team Hard which includes the 2021 season. Our work has now gone beyond the BTCC into other motorsport packages such as the Mini Challenge, Karting, Ginettas and Rally Cars to name a few. Our story doesn’t end there!

Race fans will know that 2018 was the 60th anniversary of the BTCC and as I had drawn every Championship winning car, my images were used in the Snetterton Diamond Double programme and also featured in Motorsport News and Autosport.

2018 was also the year we took our products to the fans, with a ‘test’ trade stall at 2 events. With so many positive and humbling comments received, we at BTCC Blueprints felt confident enough to attend a whole season. That became 2019, all 10 events, from Thruxton to Knockhill and everywhere between. Covid didn’t allow our return in 2020, but rest assured, we’ll be back as soon as we’re allowed.

We only exist because of the incredible support we receive from fans, drivers, teams and sponsors, so a huge “thank you”. As our great reputation grows, so will we.

Please take some time to look at our portfolio page of past work and browse the shop. If you can’t see what you want, please message us. The same applies to livery design or bespoke commission work. We’d love to hear from you.
